Italian Antipasti Platter

with Barton’s Chilli Piccalilli

Traditional antipasto includes cured and cooked meats, olives, various cheeses, pickled meats, and preserved vegetables in oil or vinegar.

In our opinion it is a combination of small bites of tasty food, usually accompanied by glass of wine, beer or a glass of ginger beer. It is a great starter, snack, picnic and great to serve as party food.

Did you know that the plural of Antipasto is antipasti? In Italian it means "before the meal" and is a traditional Italian first course or starter and is comparable to hors d’oeuvre, Spanish tapas or an entrée. With antipasto, we think it’s best to keep things simple. Narrow your choices down to two or three items then incorporate a few pickles or chutneys and you’re set.
